Welcome to my blog

We moved to Ireland with the notion of building our "dream" home in May 2007 after purchasing the site earlier on that year. Mr C is Irish and originally from Limerick but he remains in the UK during the week, his job is running www.cruise.co.uk and earning the bucks that will hopefully allow us to "live the dream."

It's taken us almost two years but ground will be broken on the site by the end of May 09!! A lot of blood, sweat & loads of tears (all mine!) have gone into this project already, we left a fabulous house behind in Newcastle...and now for my Kevin McLeod bit, "can the new build can live up to my expectations and the old house we left behind"? I'm not sure...keep watching my blog and you'll find out!!

attempted break-in

Hasn't been the best of weeks :-((

Have been really feeling the strain this past week of house build + 3 kids + husband away for 3 weeks (he made it back yesterday despite of volcanic ash fall out....relief!) only to find out today that there was an attempted break-in at the new house last night!

An attempt was made to start up the JCB...they smashed their way in as you can see from the photo but luckily failed in their attempts to steal or vandalise anything.  Not a lot we can do really, just hope that this was their first and last attempt.

This left a nasty little taste in my mouth and has put me off  blogging about exactly what's going on and going in at the house, don't want this blog to become an advertisment for every would be crook in the neighbourhood.....paranoia setting in now!!

  3. What A-M said. But I understand the paranoia. The world is full of assholes. Pardon my bluntness.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend despite this unpleasantness.

  4. I disagree. I think a blog is a deterrent - it makes it easier to trace them if they do anything, i.e. that you can post photographic evidence of them being there and them maybe leaving clues and also have security cameras fitted. Honestly, the sort of people who ram-raid an unfinished house are not the sort of people sitting at home with a cup of hot chocolate reading a blog. Keep calm and carry on, you must be sick of hearing this but it will all be worth it in the end.
