Welcome to my blog

We moved to Ireland with the notion of building our "dream" home in May 2007 after purchasing the site earlier on that year. Mr C is Irish and originally from Limerick but he remains in the UK during the week, his job is running www.cruise.co.uk and earning the bucks that will hopefully allow us to "live the dream."

It's taken us almost two years but ground will be broken on the site by the end of May 09!! A lot of blood, sweat & loads of tears (all mine!) have gone into this project already, we left a fabulous house behind in Newcastle...and now for my Kevin McLeod bit, "can the new build can live up to my expectations and the old house we left behind"? I'm not sure...keep watching my blog and you'll find out!!

So Pleased with the Plastering....

Am loving the monocouche render that's now covering the exterior blockwork.

It's a chalky off white colour, very Farrow & Ball (ha ha)...just perfect!

Limestone sills looking very smart....
pleased with my decision to upgrade from the concrete one's I'd originally specified.

and finally, the light nap textured finish to the render is just what I wanted
....not too heavy....not too flat....it's just right

Busy week on site ahead...start of first fix electrics for which I'm really not fully prepared for....exciting though!

  2. Just came across your blog when I was searching for Ikea items, its really interesting, I really like the mix of traditional to the front and contemporary to the rear of your house. I looked through all your progress, you won't find it coming together now and then the fun begins of interior design! It then changes from a house to a home :) I'll keep an eye on your progress.

    All things nice...
